Hello, everyone! Today I want to share something fun with you. It's about the Spring Festival, which is the most important holiday in China. As a student, I love this time of year because it's full of joy, family, and traditions.
The Spring Festival usually comes in January or February. People clean their houses to get rid of bad luck and welcome good things. We also put up red decorations because red is considered lucky in Chinese culture. My family and I always decorate our home with red lanterns and couplets.
During the Spring Festival, we eat special food like dumplings and rice cakes. Dumplings look like little money bags, which means we will have more money in the new year. Rice cakes are called "nian gao" and they mean "getting higher and higher" every year.
One of my favorite parts is the New Year’s Eve dinner. All the family members come together to enjoy delicious food and watch the Spring Festival Gala on TV. After dinner, we stay up late to welcome the new year, which is called "shou sui."
We also give red envelopes (hongbao) to children. These envelopes contain money and are given as a symbol of good wishes for the new year. I always feel happy when I receive one!
On the first day of the new year, we visit our relatives and friends. We say “Happy New Year” and “Wishing you a prosperous year.” It's a time for greetings and making new wishes.
As a student, I learn a lot about the Spring Festival in English class. I can now talk about it in English and even write short stories about it. It makes me proud to share my culture with others.
In conclusion, the Spring Festival is not only a time for celebration but also a way to connect with family and remember our traditions. I hope you all have a wonderful Spring Festival and a happy new year!
